It was spring, one of the most magical times of the year. Konoha celebrated this wonderful time of year as always, by organizing a big festival. While most of the people were happy and dressed in their colorful kimonos, there was one who was walking nervously through the crowd, looking in every direction. This person was Neji Hyuuga. The 19-year old jonin seemed to be looking for something… or someone.

“Neji, where have you been?” asked Tenten from behind him.

He was startled, but he turned around.
“Tenten, I’ve been looking for you for hours!”

“Huh? I told you I would be late.”

“Oh, yeah. Right… I guess I forgot”

Tenten was stunned from his response, not to mention his recent changes in behavior. The usually calm and intelligent Neji had become somewhat clumsy and nervous, like, for example, forgetting everything. Over the time they had been teammates, Tenten had never seen him act so differently. Even when they started dating, he remained a very stoic person. She did not know whether to feel annoyed or scared, but it was definitely bothering her.

“Would you like to get some food?” Neji asked her.

“Sure” she quickly replied

While they ate takoyaki, many people in the crowd couldn’t help but notice they were both looking at each other. Tenten was still thinking about Neji’s personality change, while he had something very different on his mind. He thought Tenten looked beautiful in her blue kimono and couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Hours went by and those thoughts still raced in their minds. If this was any other person, Tenten would have spoken her mind in an instant, but Neji was different. He always knew what was on her mind, while she always knew what was on his mind. She had no idea what to do.

After hours of walking around and talking with friends, Neji unexpectedly took her hand and led her through the crowd to what seemed to be an open field. Almost immediately, Tenten noticed a beautiful sakura tree was growing inside of it.

“Do you like it?” he asked her.

She was completely speechless. Neji was usually clueless about romance, and if he did, he had no idea he was doing it, but this was definitely the most romantic thing he had ever done.

“Alright, what the hell is going on?” she angrily asked him.

Neji became confused and said “Huh?”

“Don’t ‘Huh?’ me! All week you’ve been acting so strange, and now you’re actually being romantic? Tell me what the hell is going on, now!”

Tenten had never screamed before, especially not at Neji. She was just so worried, that her emotions got the best of her.

“I’m sorry, but…” He stopped to search in a hidden pocket in his kimono. He took out a small bag, from which he carefully took out an even smaller box. He slowly opened the box to reveal a golden ring with a diamond on it.
“…I wanted this moment to be special.”

Tenten took a big gaze at the ring. Although it was small, she still could not believe it was a ring she was seeing.
“It’s beautiful”

At that moment she remembered something important.
“Is this why you were acting so strange?”

“Of course. I only acted like that because my nerves got to me. I never thought you would worry that much. Will you forgive me?

“Hmm… I’ll think about it AFTER we get married.”

Neji could hardly believe she said “yes”, even though it wasn’t the most traditional way to answer. He kissed her to show what he was feeling at the moment.

“Yes! I knew it!”

They were immediately startled when they heard this voice.

“Who said that?” asked Neji. When he realized the voice was coming from the tree, he activated his Byakugan to investigate.
“Come on guys get down here”

The tree slowly began to shake until two figures climbed out of it. The first thing Tenten noticed was their matching bowl cuts and she knew it was Gai-sensei and Rock Lee. They were wearing identical green kimonos, instead of their usual jumpsuits.

“What are you doing here? Were you spying on us?”

“You guys never tell us anything. It’s only natural we would try to find out ourselves. Plus, there was no way we would miss this.” Lee explained.

“I can’t believe my two young students are getting married” Gai said with tears in his eyes as he hugged the happy couple. “Just as I predicted”

“I’m sorry, Gai-sensei, but I remember that I was the one who predicted it first.”

“I’m sorry too, my student, but I distinctly remember mentioning it in the past”

“That’s nonsense. I bet a hundred laps I said it first”

“Well, I bet two-hunded laps. Now THAT is a challenge”

As they argued intensively, Neji and Tenten were able to get away.

“Are you sure it’s ok to leave them alone?” She asked

“Trust me, they will make up in a matter of minutes, like they usually do”

Tenten could not help but to laugh at that fact. She also noticed Neji had changed back to his calm self. This entire day made her realize just how much she worries about him, how much he loves her and how much they belong together…
